Aventura is a planned, suburban city in northeastern Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States, 17 miles north of the city of Miami, FL, and part of the Miami metropolitan area.
The city name is from the&nbsp;Spanish&nbsp;word for "adventure", and was named "Aventura" after the developers of the original group of&nbsp;condominiums&nbsp;in the area,&nbsp;Eddie Lewis&nbsp;and&nbsp;Don Soffer, remarked "What an adventure this is going to be."<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aventura,_Florida#cite_note-herald-5">&nbsp;</a>According to the U.S. Census estimates of 2010, the city had a population of 35,762.
Being initially referred to as Turnberry, Aventura began to be developed during the early 1970s and became an incorporated city in 1995. The Aventura Police Department was formed in 1997. Aventura is home to the luxury resort&nbsp;Turnberry Isle, where the yacht&nbsp;Monkey Business&nbsp;was docked during the&nbsp;Gary Hart/Donna Rice incident, which contributed to Hart's ending his 1988 bid for the presidency. Aventura is also home to the&nbsp;Aventura Mall, the third-largest shopping mall in the US. Built-in 1983, it is a joint venture of Turnberry Associates and Simon Property, and brings a major source of income to the city. In early 2001, Former US President&nbsp;Bill Clinton&nbsp;delivered one of his first speeches after leaving the&nbsp;White House&nbsp;at Aventura-Turnberry Jewish Center.
In 2010, there were 26,120 households, out of which 31.5% were vacant. As of 2000, 11.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 39.6% were married couples living together, 6.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 52.2% were non-families. 45.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 23.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 1.79 and the average family size was 2.45.

Aventura

Since the 1920s, the Detroit-based Miami Beach Heights Corporation – headed by industrialists&nbsp;Robert C. Graham,&nbsp;Walter O. Briggs, and&nbsp;Carl G. Fisher&nbsp;– owned 245 acres (0.99&nbsp;km2) of undeveloped, partially swampy land that stretched from the bay to the Atlantic. Mr. Graham assumed the duties as the developer for Bal Harbour. In the 1930s, city planners&nbsp;Harland Bartholomew&nbsp;&amp; Associates were called in to design the Village. The company made several plans, and they were submitted to the Miami Beach Heights for review.The original name chosen for Bal Harbour was Bay Harbour. However, the planning committee didn't think that was appropriate for a city that was on the beach. A name was invented to encompass a village that ran from the bay to the Atlantic Ocean. The&nbsp;b&nbsp;was taken from the word&nbsp;bay&nbsp;and the&nbsp;a&nbsp;and&nbsp;l&nbsp;were taken from the name Atlantic. Hence the word&nbsp;Bal&nbsp;was created.In 1940, World War II began, and the plans were put on hold. As a goodwill gesture to the government, Robert C. Graham rented the land to the United States Air Corps for $1 per year. The Air Corps used this land to train their soldiers and established a&nbsp;Prisoner of War camp. The ocean front area was used as a&nbsp;rifle range&nbsp;and the barracks were set up on the west side of Collins Avenue. The camp for prisoners was located where the Bal Harbour Shops are presently.

Bay Harbor Islands is a town in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,628 at the 2010 census. It is separated from the mainland by Biscayne Bay, over which the land masses are connected via the Broad Causeway.Miami-Dade County is a county located in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Florida. According to a 2019 census report, the county had a population of 2,716,940, making it the most populous county in Florida and the seventh-most populous county in the United States.

Bay Point is a private residential development that stretches from NE 41st Street to NE 50th Street and is bordered on the west by Biscayne Bay and Biscayne Boulevard. The neighborhood has about 250 single-family homes, most of which were built in the 1940s and 1950s, and the average lot size is over 13,000 square feet. A high proportion of people are vacation or seasonal homeowners, as is the situation in many of Miami's beachfront areas. The streets, including the roaming safety patrol and security gate officers, are privately owned and managed by the homeowners..Despite the fact that the majority of the residences are on dry lots, the community has roughly 90 waterfront properties with direct bay access or frontage on the Sabal canal or Sabal Lake. The cost of a 3,000 square foot (280m2) home on a dry site in the Miami enclave ranges from around $1.1 million to just under $27 million for a premium waterfront estate with excellent bay views. Over the years, the neighborhood has attracted a number of celebrities, including Grammy Award winner Willy Chirino and former Miami Marlins ace pitcher Livan Hernandez, and is now home to Enrique Iglesias and Anna Kournikova.
