Miami-Dade Residential Village

Apartments in Biscayne Park, FL

Welcome to Biscayne Park, a small Miami-Dade village north of downtown Miami — a quiet residential enclave of tree-lined streets.

Biscayne Park is a village in Miami-Dade County, Florida, situated about nine miles north of downtown Miami within the Miami metropolitan area of South Florida. Its 2020 population was 3,117. The village is one of the region's smallest and most distinctive municipalities, known for its quiet residential streets and its carefully maintained small-town character amid the larger urban landscape. The area that became Biscayne Park was, in 1921, largely unincorporated and undeveloped — fields of tomatoes belonging to Arthur Mertlow Griffing as Miami prepared for its great real-estate boom. The village was formally created on June 16, 1933, when the Florida Legislature passed a bill establishing Biscayne Park, making it a product of the same era of South Florida development that produced neighboring Miami Shores and North Miami. Biscayne Park is bordered by North Miami to the north and Miami Shores to the south, placing it in the heart of the county's older northeastern corridor. Its layout was deliberately designed to be residential, with a street pattern that avoids the cut-through traffic that affects much of Miami. That design, unusual for the region, contributes to the village's calm, park-like atmosphere. Housing is overwhelmingly single-family, with homes spanning nearly a century of South Florida styles — from a 1922 Spanish Mission-style house to more recent contemporary construction. The village's government offices are housed in a historic log cabin, a reminder of its early character. Today Biscayne Park functions as a compact, residential enclave within Miami-Dade, offering a small-village feel and tree-lined streets while remaining minutes from the county's employment, cultural, and commercial centers. For residents, the village offers a distinctly quieter alternative within one of the region's busiest urban corridors.
