Melbourne Beach is a small incorporated town on the southern end of Brevard County's barrier island, on Florida's Space Coast. It is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Indian River Lagoon on the west, giving nearly every resident easy access to both ocean beach and estuarine shoreline. With roughly 3,200 residents, it is one of the smallest municipalities in the county and has deliberately held onto a low-rise, residential character. Founded in 1883, Melbourne Beach is Brevard County's oldest beach community.
